This meditation video is an audio-visual journey into the practice of noting β showing how perception of reality transforms through heightened senses, emotional alchemy, impermanence, and the dissolution of self.
β¦ PHASE 1: HEIGHTENED SENSES
At first, your senses get more intense as you become better at focusing on raw experience. What once felt ordinary starts to feel alive, fresh, bright, and fascinating.
- Ordinary sounds β wind, a shower, boiling water β become intricate symphonies of rhythm, tone and ‘instruments’.
- The simple touch of wind on your skin is felt so deeply it ripples through the body, sending waves of pleasure and goosebumps.
- The greenness of trees, grass, and leaves becomes intensely green. Colors pop like someone slid the contrast filter on your perception from 20% to 50% to 100%.
- Oranges burst with explosive juiciness. The smell of fresh coffee turns hypnotic.
Itβs like upgrading your senses from a blurry 240p camera to a premium 4K lens.
β¦ PHASE 2: SENSATE REALITY TRANSFORMS
Eventually, this heightened perception goes deeper and starts to permeate every experience, transforming it into something new
For instance, emotions shift from feeling like storms that overwhelm to becoming a blend off airy smoke-like quality (emotion) mixing with denser contractions (which are resistance to the emotion).
As sensory clarity sharpens, resistance dissolves. Dense contractions open up, and emotions reveal themselves as expansive, transparent, fluid waves that rise, peak, and dissolve in boundless open space.
At this stage, every emotion is alchemized. No emotion feels βnegative,β because when experienced with sensory clarity, it becomes blissful waves β even sadness or anger.
β¦ PHASE 3: ACCELERATION
Then perception speeds up.
Maybe at first you could note one sensate experience per second. But over time, you become able to note several experiences per second.
Until reality becomes a rapid sequence of distinct perceptual frames. One frame after another at incredible speeds that push your perceptual capacity to the edge.
β¦ PHASE 4: IMPERMANENCE
Until even sense reality itself becomes impermanent.
You see that every single sensate experience is blinking in and out of reality moment by moment.
You look at a flower, and it’s not a stable continuous sight of a flower, but rather a series of rapid seeing frames that are blinking in and out of reality. Between each frame, there is a gap where it disappears, before reappearing.
β¦ PHASE 5: INSIGHT
You are now at top speeds of perceptual awareness, which inevitably leads to an insight about the nature of self and reality, that changes everything about ‘YOU’.
You ‘see’, not intellectually, but at a visceral whole-body level, that there is no person here, there is no individual separate self experiencing reality. The separate self was a mind-made creation, a set of assumptions that melt away as you perceive sensate reality accurately trough noting practice (or any other meditation practice for that matter).
The sense of having a center point from which you experience reality pops.
There is no seer, hearer, doer, thinker, or feeler.
No subject experiencing an object.
